The Academic Orientation Program for 2009 has been completed.  Please check back in March 2010 for Fall 2010 Orientation information.

Academic Orientation (FTCAP) Information for First-Year Students
Entering in the Summer and Fall of 2009

Congratulations and welcome to Penn State Erie, The Behrend College!

If you are an incoming student, you will receive a postcard with information about online testing, from University Park.  (The postcard should arrive mid- to -late March.)  Once you have completed your placement testing, you  will receive a letter which will outline information about how to register for Academic Orientation (FTCAP).  This half-day program is an academic orientation to the University.  We encourage both students and parents to attend as there are segments designed for each of you.

In addition to meeting with an advisor to schedule fall classes, you will meet representatives from various offices across campus. You will also get your Penn State ID and have your email account activated. You must have proper identification (such as a Driver's License) to obtain your Penn State ID.

Further, the day will include an informational session on financial aid and billing. Please bring any financial aid related paperwork, including your/your parent's Federal PIN, in the event we need to access your FAFSA information.

The program will be held on the following dates:  June 15, 17, 19, 23, 25, 2009 and also July 6, 8, 10, 13, 14, 2009 .

PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR ACADEMIC ORIENTATION PROGRAM DATE WITH GREAT CARE.  Much time and preparation is required in order to match each student to an advisor for an individualized advising session associated with their chosen interest area.  Reservations are made on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Dates fill up very quickly.  We suggest making your final date selection only after checking all family calendars.  Date changes are limited to emergency situations only.  If you are unable to attend the date that you have reserved, individual advising and scheduling sessions will be available during Fall New Student Orientation in August.

Upon receipt of your reservation, you will receive an email notification, within 3 business days, of your attendance date. Your email confirmation will include additional information, such as a parking permit, directions, and a campus map.
