"Sometimes you're happy and sometimes you're sad - but the word goes "round". Happy or sad, acerbicor in love, songwriters John Kander and Fred Ebb famously stuffed every possible emotion into music and lyrics for hit movies and Broadway shows, including the wildly popular "Cabaret," "Chicago," and "New York, New York."

Kander and Ebb's unforgettable gems from stage and screen have been pulled together in "The World Goes 'Round," a musical revue of showstoppers culled from a partnership that began in 1962 with the show "Flora the Red Menace" and ended only with Ebb's death in 2004. The show's seven performances begins Friday, April 13.

"In addition to the fabulous music of "The World Goes 'Round," the show as a whole appealed to me in the way that it examines life," said Christine Mangone, Penn State Behrend 's lecturer in theatre, production director and musical director. "As the title suggests, time passes and life changes are inevitable. Sometimes this is for the best, and sometines it's not. As exemplified by the opening number "Coffee in a Cardboard Cup," a wildly funny examination of our sometimes frantic, over-caffeinated lives."

For the Studio Theatre performance, "we've edited hundreds of photographic and video images to project during the show," Mangone added. "Mixed with the live performances, these captured moments emphasize the world, indeed, goes 'round."

To enhance the cabaret atmosphere of the revue, Starbucks Frappuccinos and cookies, donated by Penn state Behrend's Housing & Food Services, will be served during the show.

Penn State Behrend studends lending their singing and dancing talents to the production are Joseph Angelo, Jessica Brown, Katelyn Gracy, Kristie LeRosa, Darius Martin, Devin Redinger, Patrick Sharbaugh and Alanna Stecura. Mike Stenzel, a member of the college's information technology staff, also is part of the cast. The show was choreographed by Adele Crotty with sets by college lecturer in theatre T.J. Laffan. Music is provided by a student trio of Sharbaugh with Rohan Ramanna and Frank Weltner.
