Supplemental Instruction (SI)

SI Sessions are not being held this semester.  Group tutoring sessions are available for Physics 211 and 212. Click here to see the schedule! Group tutoring is available to all students at no cost - you can come to as many sessions as you'd like.

What's SI?

Weekly review sessions in historically difficult courses for students who want to get the highest possible grade. Attendance is voluntary.

Who is an SI Leader?

SI leaders are students who have already taken the course and are anxious to help guide you through it. They'll be in class every day (except for labs), hearing what you hear and reading what you read.

What's in it for you?

It's a chance to get together with other students to compare notes, discuss important concepts, develop strategies for studying and test taking.

If you've ever wished you could do something over, knowing what you know now, you can come close with SI. SI leaders will tell you what they've learned about how to study for the course.

National statistics prove that participation at least once per week results in higher final grades.

What's an SI Session like?

SI sessions integrate course content with learning strategies. SI Leaders don't lecture. Their job is to help you think about the lectures and readings, and then put it all together.

SI sessions are informal. Bring your notes, your textbook and questions. SI sessions are guaranteed study time!

When do the Study Sessions start?

They start after the first week of class. This first week you'll fill out a short survey to help the SI leader schedule the sessions at convenient times. There will be three sessions a week. You can attend one, two, or all three.  Each one will be different because you'll have new material to discuss.
