Behrend Men's Soccer Advances to AMCC Championship Game
Penn State Behrend continued their push toward an AMCC title with a victory in the semi-final round over the #3 seed Penn State Altoona Lions. Behrend (#2 seed) defeated Penn State Altoona by a score of 1 to 0. Behrend jumped on the board first at the 9:38 mark in the first half when freshman Corey Hamilton (Erie/Mercyhurst Prep) headed a ball in on a kick from teammate Kyle McKinney (Chesterland/West Geauga). The score remained the same when the first half final whistle blew. Behrend outshot Altoona in the first half eight to four and had five shots on goal as opposed to two for Altoona. The second half was controlled by the defense of Behrend who limited Altoona's shots and kept them off the scoreboard. Senior goalkeeper Dustin Walker (Apollo/Kiski) came up big throughout the game and recorded yet another shutout while tallying five saves. The final shot tally saw Behrend outshoot Altoona nine to eight. Penn State Behrend now sits at 15-4-2 overall. The 15 wins is a new Behrend record for single season wins and the team will compete in the 10th AMCC final in 13 years. This win has punched Behrend's ticket to the AMCC Championship game which will be held on Saturday, November 7 at a time and place to be announced.
