Men's Tennis Defeats Pitt-Greensburg in First AMCC Match

The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team defeated Pitt-Greensburg 9-0 in their first AMCC match of the season.  The men now post a 4-6 overall record and a 1-0 in the AMCC. 

The blue and white had a number of top performers that contributed to the victory.  In singles play, winners included Miles Boyea (St. Vincent, WI/Upper Canada), ElliotBlackstone (Wexford/Pine-Richland), John Henderson (Upper St. Clair/Upper St. Clair), Jim Palmer (Sharon/Sharon), and Trevor Dougherty (Meadville/Meadville).  Each player played tough and was able to come away with wins in their matches.

On the doubles side, Boyea and Palmer teamed up to win against a team of two Greensburg opponents.  Blackstone and Henderson also teamed up and with the doubles team of Erkin Nasirli (Baku/Baku Oxford School) and James Getty (Erie/Harborcreek), the blue and white were able to secure the victory.

The men will play three games in three days beginning today, March 28 when they take on Alfred University at 4:00 p.m.  The men will then host two AMCC rivals starting on Saturday, March 29 when they take on Frostburg State at 5:00 p.m.  Then on Sunday March 30, the Behrend Lions will go up against Penn State Altoona.  Matches are set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
