Behrend Lions Among National Statistical Leaders in Water Polo

The Behrend Lions men's water polo team has players ranked nationally in statistical categories current through November 13.  Behrend senior goalie Leandro Azevedo (Miami, FL/Miami Beach) is the national leaders in saves per game.  The senior averaged 11.6 stops per contest, to tie for tops in the nation.  In 14 games played for the blue and white, Azevedo totaled 163 saves during the 2006 season.

and Anthony Spoto (Birmingham, MI/Seaholm) are tied for 19th place nationally in goals scored per game with a 2.1 average.  Additionally, each ranks 44th in goals scored for the season with 40. 

On October 22 Behrend earned an 8-6 victory over Connecticut College, good for a third place finish at the Division III Eastern Championships and the highest finish in program history.  Behrend concluded the season at the Division III Southern Championships at hosted by Bucknell October 28-29.
