General Information Admission Requirements for Non-Credit Learning All non-credit courses are open to high school graduates and to those who have earned a GED, although prerequisite course requirements may apply. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) Students enrolling in non-credit courses or programs typically receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon completion of a course or program. The CEU is a nationally recognized unit of measure used to accumulate a standardized permanent record of an individual's participation in noncredit continuing education programs conducted under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. Units are awarded based on a standard of one unit per ten hours of instructional contact. Credit Courses If you are interested in taking credit courses, and/or pursuing a degree, please contact the Center for Adult Students at (814) 898-6700. Bookstore Location: Reed Union Building For additional information contact the Bookstore at (814) 898-6236. Confidentiality of Student Records The University recognizes the privacy of individuals and the confidentiality of student records as described in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. According to this policy, information that is considered public record may be released without the student's permission. Students may request that this information not be publicly released by contacting the Registrar's Office at (814) 898-6104. Disability Services The Office of Student Affairs helps to coordinate accommodations to meet specific needs of students with disabilities. Students anticipating the need for support accommodations are encouraged to contact the Office of Student Affairs at (814) 898-6111. Limited Enrollments and Cancellations A minimum class size is required for all course offerings. The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any class because of insufficient enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. Register early! Many classes are cancelled because registrations are received too late. Registrations should be received no later than one week prior to first day of the course or program. Payment Options Company Billing: Penn State will bill your organization directly if you submit a letter of authorization on company letterhead or a company P.O. with appropriate authorization signatures and guidelines at the time of registration. Individual Payments: The course fee is due at the time of registration and should be paid by check, money order or approved credit card. VISA, MasterCard and Discover credit cards are accepted for tuition. Veterans Under G.I. Bill Some non-credit programs have been approved under the G.I. Bill benefits. Veterans who plan to use G.I. Bill benefits for the first time should obtain application forms from their Veterans Administration Office prior to registration. Veterans should be prepared to pay the course fee at the time of registration since the Veterans Administration reimburses the individual, not the institution. For more information please contact the Penn State Behrend Veteran's Office at (814) 898-6335.
