  Applicant Status:

Please note:

The application deadline for the Fall 2010 semester is:

-11/30/2009 for Freshman & Transfer students

-1/15/2010 for Change of Major, Provisional or Re-enrollment Students

Step 1:   Do I qualify as an Adult Student?

Definition of an Adult Student:
An adult learner may be 24 years of age or older; or a veteran of the armed services; or returning to school after four or more years of employment, homemaking, or other activity; or a person who assumes multiple adult roles such as parent, spouse/partner, employee, and student.

For first-year degree admission:
SAT or ACT scores will be waived for adult applicants who have been out of high school five or more years or veterans who have served in the military four years with an honorable discharge. In addition we will review each applicant's high school coursework and/or GED individually as we consider you for admission.

For transfer admission:
An applicant who has not met entrance requirements or achieved a 2.00 grade-point average on a 4.00 scale for graded courses taken at institutions previously attended and who has been absent from the institution(s) for four calendar years may apply to enroll in credit courses as a provisional student.

-Note these considerations as you look at admission requirements. For any further questions, please contact Biddy Brooks, Director of Adult Student Services

Step 2:   Identify your applicant status:

Freshman Applicant:

    • You have never attended college
    • You have attempted less than 18 college credits
    • You are applying directly into the 2NURS program

Advanced Standing (Transfer) Applicant:

    • You have attempted 18 or more college credits at a college or university other than Penn State
    • You are applying directly into the 2NURS program

Current Penn State Student in Degree Status (Change of Major) Applicant:

    • You are currently enrolled and pursuing an associate or baccalaureate degree at Penn State

Current Penn State Provisional Student

    • You are currently enrolled pursuing coursework to request associate or baccalaureate degree status

Former Penn State Degree Student Requesting Re-enrollment Directly into 2NURS

    • You were a Penn State student enrolled in an associate or baccalaureate degree program and had registered for classes for at least one semester (includes withdrawal)

Eligibility for the 2NURS Program is based on a competitive academic review. The minimum grade point average of successful candidates, as determined by Behrend’s Nursing Department, will change from year to year depending on the strength of the candidates’ academic records.
