Policy for Scheduling
Computer Labs
|
|
The following guidelines are used for
scheduling computer labs:
- Computer Center labs can only be reserved by a faculty member, faculty sponsored organization, or the Learning Resource Center.
- To avoid scheduling conflicts and to better guarantee placement, those classes that have a semester-long lab component should have their lab reservations arranged by the Registrar’s office; reservations made in this manner always take precedence. (Faculty members who determine that they need a semester long computer lab reservation after the schedule has been set (or the semester has begun) may contact the Manager of IT Support Services to explore what options exist.)
- Lab reservations that are needed on an intermittent basis should be made via the Computer Center Computer Resource Requirement Form. This form is sent to faculty well in advance of a new semester. Reservation requests received in this manner will take precedence over ad-hoc requests, but not those placed by the Registrar’s office.
- Ad-hoc reservations should be brought to the attention of the Manager of IT Support Services and are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Two weeks advance notice is preferred.
- Reservations needed during break periods (or between semesters) should also be brought to the attention of the Manager of IT Support Services. Like ad-hoc requests, these will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Although all technology classrooms and lecture halls have an instructor PC, if you need an additional computer in the classroom for a demonstration, student presentations, etc., please contact the Copy and Multimedia Center (CMC) to schedule a portable classroom cart.
- The computer labs in Hammermill 135 and Lilley Library 4 are always “open” labs and are never reserved for instructional use. Other open lab times exist when reservations are not in place or if a class that had reserved a lab ends early. Refer to the reservation schedule posted outside the entrance of each lab for more information.
