Special-Interest Housing

Penn State Erie offers four special-living options for resident students:

Honors Interest House: The Honors Interest House is a community of students enrolled in the Behrend College Honors or University Scholars programs. Emphasis is placed on students' academic achievement and intellectual development through a variety of programs and activities. The Honors Interest House is located in ALMY HALL

Freshman Interest Group Housing: In the Fall of 2004 SENAT HALL opened for freshmen who are also enrolled in one of the FIGs (Freshman Interest Groups).  Specifically designed to meet the needs of Freshman students in the FIG program there are 144 places in a suite environment.  The specific FIG groups in Senat Hall vary from year to year) FIG's in Senat Hall.  Students will only be housed in Senat for their first year at Behrend and must remain in the FIG program their first semester. For FIG groups assigned to other halls effort is made to group those FIGs in the same area of the hall.

Service-learning Floor:  The Service-learning Floor, developed in the fall of 2007, is dedicated to cultivating a sense of civic and community responsibility and an appreciation for learning among its residents.  Residents will take ownership of this suite-style community by planning and participating in innovative, educational, and challenging programming that will prepare residents for a culminating service trip over spring break.  Find out more here.
