Roommate Problems? Residence Life staff members are trained to help students adjust to their new living situations. If your student is having a problem with his/her roommate encourage your student to first discuss the problem with his/her roommate, then if they are unable to reach a resolution have them ask their RA for assistance. RAs are trained to work with the students, including doing a mediation of written contract, if necessary. However if the situation persists after meeting with the RA, students should contact their Residence Life Coordinator. The Residence Life staff are all eager to help students find workable solutions to roommate conflicts, but in extreme or acute conflicts, where neither student is willing to move, Residence Life may move both roommates involuntarily.
Congratulations and welcome to Behrend. We are very excited to have your student as a member of our campus community and we hope that our commitment to their success while at Penn State will be one that you both will enjoy. We recognize that today's academic standards are high, there is a need for strong and well-rounded leaders, and students are looking for a complete experience that helps to bring together what they're learning both inside and outside of the classroom, and so we decided to bring the SPARC Program to life! The SPARC Program centers on four pillars that we think will best assist your student in their transition into college. These four pillars are Academics, Community, Service, and Awareness.
